Bay of Brest - Iroise Sea, Brittany, France

The Bay of Brest and Iroise Sea are a coastal area located in north-western France. Its climate is temperate. The Southern part of the Bay is mostly agricultural while the city of Brest influences mostly the northern part of the Bay. The Iroise Sea represents a coastal maritime entity of a surface of about 4000 km. It is located at the western part of the Breton peninsula. It is a coastal and marine environment particularly exposed to the meteorological and oceanic influences of the Atlantic Ocean in terms of winter storms and waves that reach the coasts. Currently, climate change is believed to generate two major challenges: an ecological challenge (eutrophication and proliferation of invasive species) and a flood/erosion challenge.
