Question 2a: We have explored together some key places and activities that are changing in your area. Now we would like to explore with you things/actions that are done in order to face those changes. The question is: what is being done right now to adapt to the changes described?

Question 2b: We continue to explore with you things/actions to face those changes.
Related to the activities and places described: What are the Adaptation processes in the past ?

Question 2c: We continue to explore with you things/actions to face those changes.

Question 3: We are nearing the end of the interview / almost at the end of the interview. Regarding adaptation, is there anything else you want to add?

Here below the entrance of office "bureau du comité de gestion" of the Marine Protected Area (MPA) Joal-Fadiouth:

In the picture below we can see Ndickou Gaye from the UCAD team and Juan Baztan from the UVSQ team during the interview in March 18th 2015 with the president of "comité de gestion" of the MPA at his house., such a nice people around.

Along the evening we do transcriptions, discussion and we summarize the day work, in the picture Aichétou Seck and Ndickou Gaye from the UCAD team warming up her brains.

A precious person at local level, the president of the "groupement d'interet economique femmes et coquillages" (GIE) being interviwee by Ndickou Gaye from the UCAD team.

A general view of the Joal beach, where the captures comes after a long tide work....

The capture goes for it biggest part for outside Joal markets, here below the trucks with the fresh fish ...

And the local population, within a changing environment with the little pieces of fish and crustaceans...

A group of women walking along Mbour beach, note the amount of plastics on the rocks...

As every complex society, contradictions and paradoxal situations in the core of the dialog between stakholders....

The ongoing work.... :)

Some preliminary results...

Some members of the UCAD and UVSQ team preparing the fieldwork to the town of Rof.

Some members of the UCAD team after the interview with the chief of the town of Rof.

The carts on the Joal beach, waiting for the fresh fish to bring it to the artisanal transformation sites.

During the first field work, the work done with the students produce few transcriptions that, even with out an stabilized protocol, give some information to prepare the next steps and complete some gaps of the collected data, here below the list of the transcriptions as introduced into the atlas.ti software:

Once into the software we use 11 codes grouped into 2 families:
    * REN: Relevance, Evidence, Normative.
    * CHOK: CHange, cOmmunity, Knowledge.
    * PAST, CURRENT AND FUTURE ADAPTATION.
    * “local” speech or "scientist" speech; "emic" and "etic" knowledge.

From Thursday 26th we start a new step in the project...go in deep and into the details of the already done work and coding.

Really nice to move forward with those people, the Jacques and Juan coding feed the discussions and the work done by Aichetou and Ndickou bring the team to an interesting shore :)

The new elements for a framework will circulate by e-mail before the retreat in October 2015, here below some pictures from the Khelcom study site in Joal Fadiouth.

Worktables and other facilities for the women engaged in processing....

A mysterious place in the middle of the processing zone....

There's a huge empty place, closed since it started 8 years ago...

All the facilities unworn...

Who paid this leak? the adaptation fund...

From here we have 2 new records to apply the next steps on the ongoing approach:

March the 27th...

An extremely interesting focusgroup with the Rof's people, here the name of the file:  ARTisticc_Sn_March2015_Rof_FG_20personesEtChefVillage.m4a

And some pictures from the co-work experience...

From Rof we go to Pointe Saréne, an incredible agriculture place, pretty close from Rof, another universe...

Such a nice local leader...

The situation is far to be ideal, but day by day efforts are be done for years, a text from a local newspaper here:
http://mediafrik.com/Bras-de-fer-Sapco-Habitants-Pointe.html

We went back to the Mballing processing site...

...we did an incredible intense Focus Group with thee womens....

...intense for sure...

...with 8 members of the community...

...we all...WOMEN&UCAD&UVSQ, a great moment: thanks so much.

In the anti salt dam from the MPA, a mesure of "adaptation" that really piss off the local people, here below the UCAD team with Professor Kane.

...a detail of the dam...

...with the local people in the horizon...

...a baobab and palm forest...

A detail of one of the reasons because this dam is not the best idea. We can see how the fertile lands are attacked by the dam's enterprises for the extraction of sand for the dam.

...a baobab there in the horizin...

Folks here we finish our UCAD & UVSQ field work, thanks so much to the UCAD&UVSQ Team's members, and the people from the Marrakis Keur, which have allowed ARTisticc's progress in such nice human conditions: THANKS!!!!
