Kanyakumari district, Nagapattinam region, India

The Kanyakumari district and Nagapattinam region study sites group typical tropical coastal villages with a high density of population exceeding the general average in India. Both regions have a historical legacy of dealing with community-based climate adaptations – such as regime shifts in the monsoon. Hence the choice made of these sites. These regions have undergone dramatic instances of historical adaptation. Known adaptation processes include mobility, emerging new fisheries, development of new social networks between coastal communities and inland communities etc. These sites will allow the exploration of the role of multiple scales of partnerships that facilitate adaptation pathways.
